Magma Smith Hearthling class: "We have investigated this, but whenever we think of something they would do, it seems to work better as part of the blacksmith or geomancer. Pirate, Ninja and Politician enemy classes: "After some discussion, we decided that this feature doesn’t really fit with the thematics of Stonehearth, so we have dropped plans to implement it."Īnimal Trainer Hearthling class: "A prototype exists, but we were never able to make it satisfying from a gameplay perspective.

We do know that it is possible to make a Wine wrapper that will enable the game to work on Linux, but if this solution does not work for you, and it is the only means by which you can play the game, please reach out to us through Kickstarter and we’ll see what we can do to make amends." (Note: Wine is essentially a software which translates Windows programs on the fly for Linux systems.) Linux port: "We have, however, chosen not to pursue the Linux port. Radiant explained the decision behind each cut feature in its post: Farming, Mining, Wood chopping, crafting etc. That being said, many features from Stonehearth's Kickstarter stretch goals have been cut from Stonehearth entirely. Which would taper off as you automate more processes. During this stage I could envision some heavy micro. Resource gathering, basic building and crafting.

The game, as I imagine it will be, has a fairly slow start. And possibly the modders, if there is a way to work it out like that. Ultimately it is a decision for the developers. So, you do make a valid point, but I personally don't believe that feature would be game breaking. For the record, I've played a bit of DF, but damn that game is complex. I realize this game is even less those two than it is the games that you mentioned. I come from Rome: Total War and a bit of Starcraft. Only "inspire them" to cut down trees or place items in a certain position. My best guess is that in the game you are playing as God, and that you should have no direct control over the actions of the town's people. This seems like it would just be a small feature, and a useful one at that. You still would be city building and resource managing. I don't see exactly how moving characters is against the concept of the game. I understand why some people look at the Kickstarter, look at the Alpha 1 and say "well, nothing's really been done" but in reality there has been a significant amount of progress that will only improve going forward.

The team itself has now expanded to 6 (soon to be 7 with the concept artist position) and we've already seen great work done on the terrain generator (as in there's actually a terrain generator now) as well as the beginnings of a soundtrack. The Kickstarter video was definitely more a proof of concept than anything else and had a few basic models as well as basic construction and wood chopping in place, all things that I imagine have been reworked for the game we are seeing at the moment. I've seen a few comments like this around the place and just wanna put a few things out there.Ī lot of the development has been getting the behind the scenes stuff done - the engine as far as I know is pretty much completed, as well as a lot of other stuff that means they can now turn their focus to slotting new gameplay elements and models in. Now the feature you are asking for probably wouldn't take to long for them to implement it, but just like all things, they have a lot of small features like this probably planned, they just take time to do. So money is probably not a primary concern. not to mention they are probably have savings and stuff from a previous job considering they said they worked in the IT industry for the past 10 years and judging based off of the accomplishments they have, they have been handsomely paid. So as long as they are not blowing money on hookers and coke they should be able to make this money last a while. some indie games take three to four years to make.

they have made amazing headway in making the game, this is not a overnight project. its been out for a whole 13 days and you already complain about how long it is taking them. that gives each person 36,100 a year if it took them five years, granted some of that goes back to the office, but even then. I guess I don't know how you are spending that money as a minimalistic person and still running out of money in a year. That is 187,500$ per person, while they are making this game they probably are being fairly minimalistic and making sure to pay bills. They have a 4 man dev team at the moment.
